| The Garden Party on 27th June was a most enjoyable event. The weather held off and the crowds were able to enjoy the afternoon of entertainment and stalls. The Ripley Morris Men entertained us all with 2 sessions of traditional dance and even song. The kids enjoyed the Punch and Judy show as always. The local ice cream from Bluebell farm was a great hit, despite not being able to get the trailer on to the site.
The total amount raised on the day was over £2150.

| Don't forget the Garden Party on June 27th.
This will be held in the church grounds, unless it's raining, in which case we will use the Memorial Hall.
There will be the usual stalls, providing the opportunity to buy cakes, bread, books, bric-a-brac and jewellery. There will also be games and the opportunity to chance your luck on the tombola or prize draw.
We hope to have organic produce on sale, courtesy of Barry Hodgkinson, and even local farm ice-cream.
The church tower will be open for anyone wishing to admire the view, or try ringing the bells. Experienced ringers will be available to assist you, and even encourage you to join the tower band !!
For our entertainment this year, we welcome the Ripley Morris men, who will perform 2 dances during the afternoon. Punch and Judy will also be present. Finally, the Breadsall School choir will sing a few numbers.
Please come along with a few pounds in your pocket and enjoy the afternoon with us, helping your local church in the process.
Thanks to our sponsors and those who have donated prizes for the draw; including Marriott Breadsall Priory, Morley Hayes and Shottle Hall.
| Licencing of Colin Pearson | | | |
| Colin Pearson will be licenced to Breadsall by the Archdeacon of Derby in the morning service of June 7th. This will be a service of Holy Communion, celebrated at the high altar. This will replace the regular All Age Service for this month only. | |
| Annual Meeting 20 April 2009 | | | |
| At the Annual Meeting of 20 April, Ray Dennis and Mavis Collins were re-elected as Churchwardens. Also elected to the PCC were Dorreen Milner, Kirstin Woodward and Claire Prior. | |
| The Bishop of Derby has announced that the Rev. Colin Pearson will be appointed as Assistant Curate at Breadsall for a period of 12 months commencing 1 June 2009. Colin is currently Curate at All Saints' Mickleover and has met with the Parish Representatives Lizzie Paish and Ray Dennis who had no doubts in recommending to the PCC that they should accept this temporary appointment. Colin will work with the Ministry Team under the oversight of the Rural Dean and the wardens. The Diocese will in due course prepare, in conjunction with the PCC and members of Breadsall Church, a profile for the permanent appointment of a new Priest in Charge. Colin will be working in Church House for 3 days a week and in the parish in the remaining time. He will continue to live in Mickleover. | |
| Farewell party for Nick and the family | | | |
| The church congregations bade farewell to Nick, Joanna, Lizzie, Imogen and Thomas today. Nick is moving on to a new parish in Wednesfield and today was his last service as Rector of All Saints'.
Nick challenged to keep moving forward in our life and above all, to remember that God loves each one of us.
We in turn wished them all the best with a gift of Derbyshire Monopoly and cheques to enable Nick to replace his Alb and Cassock, and the family to buy something to help them settle into their new home.
A card was designed by Rachael Normanshaw and signed by many of the congregation.

Following the service, we all enjoyed a lunch in the Memorial Hall, fed as so often, by the generosity of those who attended. We would wish Nick and Joanna all the best as they settle into their new home and new friends.
| Despite the rain, members of the Parish Council, church and Scouts, Brownies, Cubs and Beavers from Breadsall and Oakwood met to remember lives lost during the 2 world wars. The church was full and, following a service, met around the memorial to hear the names of the fallen and pause for 2 minutes.
Further information about those who are commemorated is being added to the site - please follow the History section. It may be a couiple of days before all the information is uploaded, so please be patient and check back.
| Information about the War Memorial | | | |
| Thanks to Stuart Brown of Littleover, we now have a link to a Roll of Honour site. This gives much more information on those commemorated on our War Memorial. Please follow the links section to find this site. | |
| Rev. Nick Watson announced on Sunday 26th October that he has been appointed as Team Rector in Wednesfield near Wolverhampton. He will probably start his new position in March 2009. Prior to that, he will be having surgery again on his foot.
UPDATE 16 November
Nick will now have surgery on 2 December and will be out of action for at least 8 weeks. Please remember Nick in you prayers. During this time, please address urgent matters to other members of the ministry team.

| The Harvest Supper and Barn Dance last Saturday (4 October) were enjoyed by all who attended. Thanks to all those who organised the event and the band for leading us though the dances. For many, the highlight of the evening was seeing Amber and Thomas enjoying themselves. For some photos of the event, please see the galleries. | |
